* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...South Central Santa Cruz County in southeastern Arizona... * WHEN...Until 845 PM MST. * IMPACTS...Rises in small streams and normally dry washes. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 605 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rio Rico, Nogales International Airport, Patagonia Lake State Park and Kino Springs. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 19 between mile markers 9 and 10. At 515 PM MST, a river gauge on the Agua Fria River reported a rapid rise of 3.3 feet from earlier thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Agua Fria River. SOURCE...River gauge reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Agua Fria River. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Agua Fria National Monument and Black Canyon City. This includes Interstate 17 between mile markers 243 and 245. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Badger Spring Wash, Larry Creek, Agua Fria River, Black Canyon Creek, Bishop Creek, Squaw Creek, Antelope Creek, Indian Creek, Slate Creek, Silver Creek, Black Canyon, Tank Creek and Copper Creek. |
